A day full of delights, nature and alpine tradition awaits you.
At the CULINARIUM ALPINUM, you’ll start with a short guided tour of the former Capuchin monastery and a tasting of tangy Alp Sbrinz.
You’ll then travel by train and cable car to Wirzweli. There, an impressive hike to Alp Chieneren awaits you, accompanied by fresh mountain air and magnificent views.
Look forward to a delicious, regional lunch and fascinating insights into cheese-making.
The return route takes you via Gummenalp back to Wirzweli.
Meeting point: 9.30 am at the CULINARIUM ALPINUM
End: approx. 5.15 pm at Stans railway station
Course fee: CHF 125 per person
Included in the course: Short guided tour of the monastery, including an Alp Sbrinz tasting at the CULINARIUM ALPINUM Guided hike led by Marina Grossrieder Shared appetiser platter, lunch and 300ml of water/soft drink at Alp Chieneren Transfer/public transport/cable car are not included.
Tour / Requirements: Fitness and technique suitable for an easy to moderately difficult tour (T2). The total walking time is approx. 3 hours (at a leisurely pace). Total distance 6.6 kilometres, with 432 metres of ascent and 25 metres of descent.
Please note: You will need suitable hiking clothing (layered approach), including a rain jacket, sturdy hiking boots with good tread (ankle-high recommended), sunglasses, a hat or cap, hiking poles (if preferred), a drink and perhaps a small snack from your rucksack (energy bars, nuts). Half-Fare/GA travelcard and money for cable cars/additional refreshments/cheese purchases.
