World record – the world’s steepest funicular railway
The car-free mountain village lies on a high plateau of the same name at the foot of the Fronalpstock. The summit of the local mountain can be reached comfortably by covered chairlift. At the top, a breathtaking panoramic view awaits – of ten lakes, Mount Pilatus, Mount Rigi, Mount Säntis, the high Alps and the Central Plateau all the way to the Jura. Vertically at your feet you can see Brunnen and the Rütli.

A technical marvel that already makes the journey an experience. The funicular reaches a gradient of 110% (47.7 degrees), making it the steepest in the world! In just a few minutes, it travels from the valley station in Schwyz right into the mountain village of Stoos. A natural paradise opens up with a wide range of leisure activities.

Summit experience ticket: turn a day’s outing into a summit experience
From the mountain village of Stoos, the chairlifts take you high up to the summit of Fronalpstock. The restaurant at the top of the Fronalpstock is the highest in Canton Schwyz. It boasts an inviting rustic-style dining room and a large outdoor terrace. Right next to the summit restaurant at alt. 1922 m is a large viewing platform offering views of famous Lake Lucerne.
